#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

At Racial Justice NOW! is committed to dismantling  structural and institutional anti-Black racism in all areas of people activity. Our primary focus is on the institution of education and lifting up the voices of dis-empowered Black parents and children. We are dedicated to stopping the school to prison pipeline and focus specifically on holding institutions accountable to equitable distribution of resources and services to Black people.

Our DMV chapter has been hard at work to ensure equity since our launch in January 2019. To date, we have collaborated with other social justice organizations in Montgomery County, Maryland to:

  1. We have engaged dozens of Montgomery County residents around anti-Blackness and issues of racial equity
  2. We supported the landmark racial equity bill passed by Montgomery County Council in November 2019
  3. We helped further a conversation on the need to decrease the regular presence of law enforcement in our schools by advocating for #CounselorsNotCops

In order to continue our work to make this region a better place to live for each and every resident of Montgomery County, Maryland we need your support. According to a recent article in the Baltimore Sun, Covid_19 is disproportionately impacting Black Marylanders. This is a time to increase our resources for Black-led organizing and advocacy groups not decrease our support. At RJN DMV, we will continue our work in holding institutions accountable to the needs of Black people in Montgomery County and throughout the State of Maryland. But we need YOUR help to do it, we need your support in raising $10,000 to ensure children and families have a place to call home by pushing our State to #CancelRent and ensuring students and families have the technological access they need.
