The RJN! #DMV chapter is off to a strong start. Our culturally relevant curriculum toolkit participated in the D.C. Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action Curriculum Fair at Howard University on January 22. More than 140 educators and teacher ed students from the metro D.C. area came together for the event. The fair was co-hosted by Teaching for Change’s D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice and the Howard University School of Education. Teachers had the opportunity to:

Browse books and lessons related to the BLM at School Week of Action

Participate in mini-workshops and table discussions

Receive a free book for use in their classroom

The curriculum fair included a special presentation by Jonathan Lykes, BYP100 national board member and the Black Joy Experience artistic director and co-producer. Lykes led the group in freedom songs and liberations chants that teachers can bring to the classroom.
